A Tiny but Mighty Soldier for the Lord has been called Home!
Linda Gaynell Vaughn was born on February 28, 1953 to Charles C. Roy and Bessie Faye (Alexander) York in Houston, Texas. She was the oldest of their 5 children. She attended school in Tatum, Texas. and Shreveport, Louisanna. She met and married the love of her life Edward R. Vaughn Jr (Buddy) of Morris, OK, on February 15, 1974. They were married for 30 years and resided in Morris, OK until Buddy's passing in 2004. They had two boys Scott Reece Vaughn and Edward R. Vaughn III. Linda loved sharing Jesus with anyone she met. She was a long time member at Trinity Baptist Church in Morris, Ok. She served in many different ministries at First Baptist Church Morris, she taught the 4 & 5 year olds in Sunday School, an Awana Cubbies Leader, taught in VBS, and ministered to shut-ins with a group of Ladies called the Sunshine Planters. At Trinity Baptist she taught 1st & 2nd graders Sunday School, taught or directed VBS, Children's Camp Sponsor at Falls Creek, Jr Camp at Southland, she was a member of the OWLS Group, sang in the Choir, served with the Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief team, and many Mission Trips. She Loved her church and telling the kids of Morris about Jesus. She loved to decorate for Trinity, if it was a flat surface she could decorate it. She loved supporting her boys, and grandkids. She was known as Mama Vaughn to Coach Vaughn's players. She would buy them baseball bats, feed them pizza, have them over for cookouts, and feed them all massive breakfasts. You could always hear her cheering on her son's team with a loud whistle from the stands. Linda loved her Red Hat society friends and their get-togethers. She enjoyed supporting, decorating, and showing dogs with the Muskogee Area American Kennel Club. She also enjoyed her farm critters. But most of all she loved her family, spending time with her grandchildren, and sharing Jesus!
Linda is preceded in death by her parents Charles Roy and Bessie Faye York, her husband of 30 years Edward R Vaughn Jr, her grandson Gabriel Esaias Vaughn, 3 Grandbabies born into God's Glory, her mother in law Rudy Vaughn, sister in law Debra Lynn Carter, and nephew Randy Turlington.
