On January 26, 2021, just one day after his 82nd birthday (January 25, 1939), Calvin Henry Vander Ark went home to be with his Lord. Calvin aka Cal, was born in Pella, Iowa to Henry and Tracy Vander Ark. They moved to Bellflower, California in 1941. When they moved to California, Cal and his siblings attended Bellflower Christian Schools and continued his love and passion for the Christian schools until the day he passed away. After school, Cal worked for the Post Office where he retired and spent his retirement years volunteering at Valley Christian in the athletic program. He married Linda in May of 1979. Cal and Linda had 4 children. Cal was very involved in his kid's sports activities and made sure they were raised right in the Christian faith. Cal is leaving behind his wife Linda, daughters Heather (Vander Ark) De Boer and Kristin Vander Ark, as well as Cam Zwagerman and Tonya (Zwagerman) Dantuma. As well as 9 (almost 10) grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings- Ted Vander Ark, Lee Vander Ark, Arnie Vander Ark, and Ruth Kornelis, as well as his grandson Jonah Dantuma. Cal will be missed by his family and his many friends. Family would like to thank all those for supporting and loving dad. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Valley Christian Schools-Athletic Programs, where he spent a lot of time and energy.
