Monte Joe Fuller, 58, formerly of El Reno, passed away from complications of COVID-19 on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, in Spokane Valley, Washington.

Monte was born April 11, 1963, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Maxie and Theleda Fuller. He was the second of their three children. Monte was a 1981 graduate of El Reno High School where he was recognized as "Player of the Year" and All-State for his outstanding accomplishments in football. He also attended Boys State. He later proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Monte was a member of First Christian Church in El Reno.

Monte was an avid outdoorsman, master craftsman and faithful friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family, making more friends than strangers, and being dutifully sure all in his orbit were met with compassion. He was kind, nurturing, and known for giving the best bear hugs.

Monte went the extra mile to make even the small things special and to lend a hand to those in need around him, no matter the cost to him personally. He was self-sacrificing and always striving to make his wife and family proud of him.

Monte was preceded in death by his father, Maxie Lee Fuller; paternal grandparents, Ernest and Delma Fuller; maternal grandmother, Helen Pogue; and maternal great-grandparents, Ray and Ann Schimmels.

He is survived by his mother, Theleda Fuller; his wife, Cheryl Fuller; children, Jordan Fuller Brodmerkel (Daniel), Eric Camou, Raymond Fuller and Catrina Fuller; siblings, Tracie Fuller Pruett, Saundra Van Horn (Mike) and Bart Fuller; aunts and uncles, Barbara Higdon (John) and Glenda Vandruff (Leon); nephews, Landon Van Horn (Holly) and Jace Fuller; niece, Neeley Van Horn White (Kyle); and numerous cousins and friends.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at First Christian Church with Rev. Colton Lott and Pastor Tara Dew officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held at 9 a.m. in the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall.

Following funeral services, the family will hold a private graveside burial for Monte and his father, Maxie Lee Fuller, at the El Reno Cemetery.

If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to First Christian Church of El Reno. Condolences may be sent to the family via the Neptune Society Online Memorial.
