Barbara graduated in 1960 from Bellefonte High School. She worked as an aid at the Laurelton Center for 22 years before its closure, at which time, she transferred to the Altoona Center for an additional 2 1/5 years until she retired in 2000.
Barbara was a member of St. Peters United Church of Christ in Aaronsburg. She enjoyed spending time camping. She took pleasure in painting folk art, creating plastic canvas crafts, and collecting anything with owls. She found joy in taking care of others.
Barbara is survived by her son, Michael E. Bower of Centre Hall and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Along with her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, Robert C. Neill and sister, Alice M. Huckleberry.
A memorial service to celebrate the life Barbara led will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 11am at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc in Centre Hall with Pastor Teresa Hockenberry officiating. She will be buried next to her husband at the Aaronsburg Salem Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation Inc, PO Box 515, Northampton, MA 01061-0515.
