Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Juanita Helen "Tootsie" Carter; one son, Jeff Basham; three sisters, Mary Logsdon, Carolyn Allen, and Barbara Mook; and his brother, Buford Basham.
Basil retired from the Kentucky Stone Company where he worked as a loader, driver, and mechanic. He was a hard worker, and along with his job at the rock quarry, he was also a local farmer. He attended Clifton Mills Church. Basil, lovingly referred to as "Pop", was a dedicated father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Travis Basham, Greg Basham, Robin Basham, and Brent Basham, all of Irvington; one daughter-in-law, Anna Basham, of Irvington; three sisters, Laverne Carter, Joyce (Virgil) Allen, and Betty Williams; four grandchildren, Warren Wilson, James Conley, Matthew Wilkins, and Summer Basham; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the Alexander Funeral Home on Friday, January 21, 2022 from 10:00 A.M -2:00 P.M. EST. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. EST at the Alexander Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Board officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery next to his wife, "Tootsie".
