REXROAT -- Funeral services for J D Dumas, 72, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 29, 1998, at the Rexroat Baptist Church with the Rev. James Wigington officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Ardmore.

Born to Bryan George and Lallah Ruth Curtis Dumas on Aug. 5, 1925, at Enid, Mr. Dumas passed away May 27, 1998, in the Healdton hospital.

Reared in Zaneis, he attended school there and married the former Valene Sloss on Jan. 1, 1949, at Gainesville, Texas. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was a member of Rexroat Baptist Church. Dumas was employed by the Quintin Little Oil Company in Ardmore from 1957 until 1989.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Leona Ball, on Aug. 24, 1972.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; a daughter and her husband, Kelli and Gary Penick, Bartlesville; two sons and their wives, Gary and Cathy Dumas, Sioux City, Iowa, and Terry and Sandy Dumas, Odessa, Texas; two sisters, Edith Groomer, Fort Worth, Texas, and Wanda Stewart, Lubbock, Texas; seven grandchildren, Arika and Mandy Dumas, Kimberly Scruggs, Bryan Dumas, Aaron Dumas, Stephanie and Leslie Penick; a special niece, Ruth Groomer, Weatherford, Texas, and three others nieces, Barbara Ferguson, Midland, Texas, Karen Stewart, Houston, and Margaret Foster, Roanoke, Texas.

Serving as bearers will be nephews, Joe Conyers, Frank and Stephen Foster, Charles Conyers, Curtis Stewart, Mike, Ron and Steve Groomer. Honorary bearers are Benny Cartwright, Turner Poindexter, Hershel Straughn, David Norton, Dave Burke, Verle Tolbert and Montie Allred.

Memorials may be made to Cross Timbers Hospice, Ardmore.
