Rafaelita E. Martínez, age 96, a resident of Abiquiu, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.
Rafaelita was preceded in death by her husband, Simon Martínez Jr., sons, Father Vidal, Juan and Rafael Martínez, daughters, Juanita Gallegos and Marcella Gonzáles, parents, Vicentita and Benjamin Archuleta, sister, Elizaida Maestas and brothers, Pacomio and Vicente Archuleta.
Rafaelita is survived by her children, Simon Martínez III of Arizona, Ben Martínez and his wife, Dolores of Texas, Mike Martínez of Farmington, Melinda Mondragón, Elizaida Martínez, Vicentita Rivera and her husband, Robert and Agapita Martínez, all of Abiquiu, sister-in-law, Cordy Martínez of Española, nephews and niece, Gerald Archuleta of Abiquiu, Tita Maestas of Albuquerque and Leroy Maestas and his wife, Frances of Abiquiu, 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and 21 Godchildren.
Public visitation will begin on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. Second rosary to take place at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Abiquiu on January 21, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 24, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Apostle Catholic Church in Abiquiu. Burial to follow at Abiquiu Catholic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Conrad Cordóva, Sean Martínez, Castillo Cordóva, Richard Mondragón, Benjie Martínez, Orlando López and Paul Rivera. Honorary pallbearers are the remainder of her grandchildren.
