Son of John Brooks (1780-1840) and Sarah McDow. William David McDow Brooks had a son John Brooks with his first wife whose identity has escaped research thus far. If she is possibly Reyborn, this would explain how his father, John H. Brooks, had authority over Rayborn land to permit John Choat to use it in a court record.

He married Sarah H Reeves, daughter of Edward Prothero Reeves (1776-1842) and Susan Mary Pierce (1795-1880). There were no children of this union. W.D.M. Brooks was last registered alive when he paid property taxes in 1847.

Sarah disappeared after the 1853 deed transaction while residing in Fentress County, Tennessee. Some siblings relocated to Texas and her mother, and two younger brothers settled in Pickett County, and Overton County, Tennessee. Where her mother died. It's not known if she remarried, or moved with family.
