Hallie M. Cornelius (nee Lee), 88 of Whiting passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the Residences of Deer Creek, Schererville, Indiana. She was the beloved wife of the late Herman R. Cornelius who passed away February 15, 2006; loving mother of Nancy (Larry Engel) Cornelius, Douglas (Susan) Cornelius and the late Herman (late Stephanie) Cornelius, Jr.; cherished grandmother of Angela Meadows, Rebecca (Mike Maley) Cornelius, Elizabeth (fiancé, Jeremy Dimeo) Cornelius, Jason Cornelius, Kevin (Xinhua) Cornelius and Brian (fiancée, Vanessa Weaver) Cornelius; adoring great grandma of Cody Meadows, Tyler Demps, Peyton Maley, Kyle, Halle, Malori and Lincoln Cornelius; proud great, great grandma of Zhuri Demps; dearest sister of Nellie (Charles) Maddle and the late Jasper (late Sylvia) Lee, Gifford (Betty) Lee and Doug (Jan Rose) Lee; dear sister-in-law of Pat (Bruce) Brumley and Marjorie (late Huey) Cornelius; many nieces, nephews and special cousins.

A Celebration of Hallie's Life will be planned for a future date. Her cremains will be placed with her husband, Herman's cremains at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on-line at www.baranfh.com.

Hallie Cornelius was born on August 24, 1933 to Levi T. Lee and Nancy Lude (Dash) Lee and was a resident of Whiting for the past 68 years. She was a devout Christian and was a member of the Whiting Church of the Nazarene. She was a retiree of Weiner Foods, Whiting, with over 40 years of service. She loved to watch sports and was an avid Chicago Cubs, Bears, Bulls and University of Kentucky Basketball fan. She enjoyed going to see professional theatre and musicals (especially if her nephew, Brance was in the cast) and enjoyed traveling to visit relatives in Kentucky, Louisiana, Wisconsin and Tennessee. Devoted to her family, Hallie will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Memorials to the Whiting Church of the Nazarene, 1046-119th St., Whiting, IN 46394, would be appreciated.
