Born in Lowell Michigan Dec 2 1920 married to the love of his life Marion Joyce Crawford of Lansing for 65 years. He was forever devoted to his one son John Jr. and his three daughters Cricket, Betsey and Mimi. He was born with a smile and a joke in his pocket and his sense of humor stayed with him to the end. He passed it on to his son, the late John W Hughes Jr. film maker. He was very smart and was a carriage maker, painter and partner in an insurance firm.
