He was born to George and Pauline Cobb in Lavonia Georgia on March 25, 1926. Growing up on a farm, he had 7 loving brothers and sisters. Louise Cline, Mary Arrowood, and Bill Cobb who we lost way too soon. And his surviving siblings, James Cobb, Jerry Cobb and Barbara Wooten.
Dewey joined the Navy on May 27th, 1944, and served one tour during World War II. Not long after, Dewey was called to be a minister and spent the rest of his life serving God. But to support his family he soon began working in Grocery Stores. So many people knew him from his ministry but he was a staple at Big Apple then Food Giant where he was beloved by all.
Dewey loved spending time with his family and preaching the words of the Lord to his congregation and loved ones. He had reverence for dogs as companions, playing the harmonica, classic Christian hymns, and was known for keeping his sense of humor in the face of hardship.
Though his surviving family feel heartbreak, Dewey Cobb was never scared of death and was ready to go to glory.
He is survived by his 3 sons and 1 daughter. David Cobb, Darell Cobb, Dwight Cobb and Pamela Cobb-Cunningham. He was blessed with 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. His grandchildren are Samantha Dulworth, Brandi Sharpton, Amanda Cobb Lambert, Daniel Cobb, Olivia Cunningham, Sydney Cunningham, and Connor Cunningham.
Funeral services will be held Monday January 24th at 12 Noon in the chapel of Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home with Pastor James Cobb officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends between the hours of 10 until 12 PM Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family ask you donate to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation
