Clarence was the son of Andrew and Anna Salveson Drenkhahn. He married Harriet Thompson on June 3, 1951, at Vermillion, South Dakota. They were the parents of Mary Ann.


THE MAPLETON PRESS - Thursday, June 3rd, 1982 - Clarence Martin Drenkhahn, 59, of Pierre, South Dakota, formerly of Danbury, died Sunday, May 23, 1982, in a hospital in Rapid City.

Services were held Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Pierre. The Rev. Gordon Higgins officiated. Burial and graveside military services were at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Danbury Cemetery at Danbury under the direction of the Isburg Funeral Home of Pierre.

Mr. Drenkhahn was born July 27, 1922, in Burbank, South Dakota. He moved to Danbury with his family at the age of 4 and was raised in the area. He attended college at Lamoni. He married Harriet Thompson June 3, 1951, at Vermillion, South Dakota. He was in the educational field and taught in various towns in South Dakota. From 1961 until 1975 he was director of publications for the South Dakota Education Association and since that time had been self employed in sales.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mary Ann McCurdy of Spokane, Washington; two brothers, Lawrence of Chatsworth, California and Andrew of Fayetteville, North Carolina; and two sisters, Mrs. Lorn (Viola) Rogge of Danbury and Mrs. Bob (Evelyn) Kennaley of Moorpark, California.
