GENE A. PETERS, 72, passed away on December 23, 2007.

Funeral services Plymouth Park Baptist Church. Dec.28,2007
Interment at D/FW National Cemetery @2:30p.m., Lane A..

How can it be possible to describe how wonderful a person was in my heart?
As I set here and remember all the good times and even the few bad times my brother and I had together it is hard to hold back the tears.

Gene was four years older than I. He was my protector, my adviser, and my best friend. Through the years if I had any kind of turmoil (and believe me I had plenty) he was the calming factor in my life. I could tell him my most personal and private secrets and he never betrayed me. I wish every girl could have a big brother like my Gene to grow up with.

On Feb. 24, 1935 Velma I. Peters gave birth to identical twins Gene A. and Gerald A Peters. They were so much alike that few people could tell them apart. For some reason I always knew Gene from Gerald. I guess I always had a special bond with him.

As the twins grew up they did everything together. They were star football players and loved being able to fool the girls as to whom their date really was. I was so proud to be their "little sister".

When they were thirteen years old Gerald chose to become a Baptist preacher. On the other hand Gene was just learning how much fun life was and turned to more worldly things to indulge in.

At the age of eighteen Gene joined the Marines. He was a tough guy and the Marines suited his distinctive life style perfectly. He was fearless. He was my hero.

As he grew older he began to realize their were more important things then parties and racing boats and riding motorcycles and dirt bikes and living on the edge.

Gene decided to give up drinking but he did keep smoking and his health begins to suffer from all the effects of his past.

When he was first diagnosed with cancer I was devastated. He had turned his life around. He was doing everything right and working in a job he loved. He had a nice home a loving wife that loved fishing with him and going shopping and garage sales and eating out and taking all life had to offer. Life was just the way he wanted it to be.

How could this happen to such a loving man? How could this happen to my Gene?

We need to trust that God knows best and we must accept his will. I know this is true, but sometimes it is so hard when you are lonesome and miss your loved ones.

We must not let a day go by without appreciating the loved ones we can hug and talk to on this earth and thank God for the life we have. This life can be taken away in a flash and we long for just one more hug from that special person until we meet again in Gods beautiful heaven. Gene is singing with our Mom at this moment and my sweet grand daughter Courtnei is playing the violin for them.

Gene was Buried: Dec.28,2007 with full military honers.
