He was born January 27, 1924 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Howard Moroni and Lily Matilda Schmidlin Gray. He married Claudine Reed, August 24, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple. He graduated from East High School. He was a veteran of World War II. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the North Central States. He was an active member of the Church. He was a retired Postal Employee and was the director of the Salt Lake Letter Carries Band for 50 years. He was a tax consultant at H & R Block for 30 years. He was a member of the Sons of Utah Pioneers serving in several capacities, both local and national levels.
Survived by sons, Richard M. (Sheila) Gray, Randall (LeAnn) Gray and daughter, Rebecca (Mark) Burgess, 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; two sisters Maurine Benson and Catherine Jones. Preceded in death by wife Claudine; twin sons, James and John, parents and brothers, Richard and Robert.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007 at 11:00 at Olympus 8th Ward, 2700 East 4500 South. Friends and Family may visit on Friday Dec. 28, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. at Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday morning at the Church.
Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 South 1900 East.
