Jesse and Anna moved to Carbondale, Pennsylvania, and Jesse became a very successful businessman in Providence (now the northern part of Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania), becoming a flour merchant, tanner, clothier (owner of a woolen factory), store owner, and land owner.
