John Almy was chosen as a lieutenant of a troop of horse on 24 Jul 1667. He served as a captain during King Philip's War and died during that conflict. His residence was located on the eastern shore of Portsmouth, near Fogland Point.
He married Mary Cole, but had no children. His father, William Almy, would later direct in his will that he be buried beside the grave of his son, John Almy.
