Katherine N. "Kate" Lassiter was the daughter of William A. Lassiter and his wife, Nannie C. She was born in the Suffolk area in what was then Nansemond County, Virginia (now city of Suffolk). She was married to Alfred Whitehead Craft, Sr in about 1927.

Katherine L. ''Katie'' Craft, 91, of the 1000 block of Fleming Circle, died March 17, 1995, in her home.
Mrs. Craft was born in Suffolk, Va. She was the widow of Alfred W. Craft Sr., and was a member of Virginia Beach United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Alfred W. Craft Jr., and his wife, Anne Lee Craft, and Richard A. Craft, all of Virginia Beach; three granddaughters, Kathryn C. Dennis, Irene C. Reinhard and Nancy C. White; a grandson, Alfred W. Craft III; five great-grandchildren and a nephew, James O. Wright of Sea Island, Ga.
A church service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Virginia Beach United Methodist Church by Dr. Paul C. Bailey. Burial will be in Charity United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will be at 306 48th St., Virginia Beach. Memorial donations may be made to Virginia Beach Rescue Squad, Inc., P.O. Box 945, Virginia Beach, Va. 23451. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling arrangements. "
