James "Jim" Carl Herbold, 80, died on Monday, August 9, 2021, at his home. No services are scheduled at this time.

Jim, the son of Elvenrene Orion and Janet Lanita (Leonard) Herbold, was born in Des Moines on July 21, 1941. He grew up on a farm north of Colfax but attended school in Newton. He graduated from Newton High School in 1959. Following graduation, Jim attended Coe College and Iowa State University. On July 11, 2014, Jim married Helen Julander in Princeton, Missouri. Jim was a lifelong Jasper County farmer, working in Colfax and Newton. He was also active in Little League and 4H.

Jim is survived by his wife, Helen; his daughter, Barbra (Darin) of Lindenhurst, Illinois; step-son, James "Mark" Moffitt of Pleasant Hill; grandchildren, Zachary Meyer, Alec Meyer, and Jacob "Jake" Herbold; nephew Mark (Amy) Herbold; niece, Laura (Marv) Seiler; and several close cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael "Mike" Herbold; brother, Larry Herbold, and sister-in-law, Jane Herbold.

Jim's family would like to thank all of his in-home caretakers for their kindness and dedication in providing Jim with excellent care.
