Larry E. Birmelin, 80, of Mansfield, passed away Thursday morning, January 6, 2022.

Born October 15, 1941, in Mansfield, Ohio, he was the son of the late Elizabeth (Fetter) and Edward C. Birmelin. He was a 1959 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War. Larry retired from Shiloh Industries after 48 years of service.

Larry is survived by a daughter, Amy Jo (Rick) Vandergiff; two step children, Kimberly Laug and Michael Laug; two step grandchildren; and numerous cousins. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his step children, Marlene Ruth Jeffries Birmelin whom he married on July 3, 1980.

The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m.with Pastor Matthew Pond officiating. He will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park.
