Clyde Allen McGinnett, age 85, of Mill Village, was called to glory December 31, 2021. He was born September 24, 1936, the son of the late Willis and Nellie Louise McGinnett. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Ethel 'Rosie' McGinnett, who passed away January 3, 2016.
Clyde prided himself on being a part of the Mill Village Volunteer Fire Company and serving on the borough's council. He was a long-time member of the Mill Village United Presbyterian Church. He served in the U.S. Army as a tank driver and motor pool operator in Iceland and Kentucky, and liked to tell of his escapades. He was loyal and hard working. After the Army, Clyde joined the U.S. Department of Agriculture to travel and live with his family in places such as Blue Ball and Bedford with the agricultural research service.
Surviving Clyde is a son Clyde L. McGinnett; a daughter Cynthia L. Simmons; four grandchildren, Travis Simmons, Trisha Simmons, Clyde J. McGinnett, Justin Simmons; five great-grandchildren, Brylee, Joseph, Thomas, Victoria, and Aiden. Also surviving is a sister Dorothy and her daughter Mona.
Those preceding him in death included his brother Melvin, and sisters Laura Louise 'Herk' and Alice Mae.
Friends may visit the Van Matre Funeral Home in Waterford on Friday, January 7, 2022 from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 10 a.m. with an interment to follow at the Mill Village Cemetery.
