Son of John Cain and Sarah Nelson. Husband of Alice Virginia Daniels. Father of Harlin.

A return to pioneer days was practiced in south Callaway last
week when the funeral procession of John Wesley Cain, 85 years old, who died at his home four, miles west of Guthrie, was made up entirely of teams and wagons. The early-day funeral train was at the request of Mr. Cain, who desired to have it conform as nearly as possible with pioneer customs.
Burial was in the Dry Fork Baptist church cemetery, near Guthrie.

Mr. Cain was born in Kentucky and moved to Missouri with his family in 1884. He and his brother, Philip, settled on what is known as the Sandy Vaughn farm, four miles west of Guthrie. During his 50 years residence in Missouri he has lived on different farms in Callaway and Boone counties. Of the 14 children, born to him by two marriages, six sons and
one daughter survive. Two of the sons, "Doc" and Harlan, live at Guthrie.
