An inurnment ceremony with military honors is scheduled for December 30, 2021 at 1:00pm at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, California.

Curt was born December 18, 1941 to Alice Mae Gary and Howard Earle Barnes in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He attended the University of Michigan before serving four years in the United States Air Force.

Following his military discharge, Curt held positions in banking, government, and in the public and non-profit sectors in Michigan and Minnesota. While he enjoyed every job he held, he was most proud of his self-taught computer programming skills and went on to become the owner of TOCON Incorporated, a computer programming and consulting company in Minnesota.

Later in his career, Curt and his wife built their family home on "County Road 4" in Elbow Lake, Minnesota where he loved to spend his spare time. He enjoyed smoking cigars, sipping Scotch and ale, and watching Michigan football. When he wasn't cheering "Go Blue," you might find him outside on his John Deere tractor mowing meticulously straight lines. He was also very competitive and enjoyed playing tennis, jarts, pool, and ping-pong (the correct way). Curt loved spending time with his family, especially on Mackinac Island—his favorite vacation destination. He was a talented musician, as he played the piano, organ, bass guitar, saxophone, and clarinet. He played bass guitar in Michigan with the "RFD Boys" and in Minnesota with the "Al Roberts Quartet." In retirement, he spent his time hosting "Latte Tuesdays" and lending his musical talents to his beloved "Four Guys" quartet.

Curt is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Catherine Anderson Barnes; his three children, Geoffrey (Yvette) Barnes, Alexander (Marie) Anderson-Barnes, and Victoria (Brandon) Merritt; 3 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Gary Lee Barnes and Eileen Sydelle Barnes.

A constant jokester right up until the end, Curt will never be forgotten. He was truly one of a kind.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.merkleymitchell.com for the Anderson Barnes family.
