==============================
Lola Joan Diederich, age 88, of McCook, departed this life in McCook, Nebraska, at her home on December 30, 2021. She went peacefully with her daughter Carol and granddaughter Heather by her side.

Lola was born on October 13, 1933 in Leoville, Kansas to Margaret (Madge) and William Kaus and departed this life in McCook, Nebraska at the age of 88. Lola's parents moved around a lot when she was in school because of her father's jobs. She spent her younger years watching her siblings, babysitting, and cooking for harvest crews.

She was married June 11, 1953 to the love of her life, Merlin Diederich. To this union 5 children were born: Stephen Charles, Sharon Kay, David Jon, Ronald Ray, and Carol Ann. Lola spent her entire life caring for her family & friends. She loved to cook for her family and I'm sure it was always a challenge to feed seven every meal. Nothing was more important to her than her family.

Lola & Merlin started their married life in North Carolina while Merlin was in the Army. Then they moved to McPherson, Kansas and then Boulder, Colorado where they finished raising their children. She managed and worked in a carpet shop alongside Merlin. They bought a home in North Fort Myers, Florida and McCook, Nebraska after retirement and became snowbirds.

Lola was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret & William Kaus; husband, Merlin Diederich; brothers, Jim Kaus and Bill Kaus; sister, Velma Neff; son-in-law, Steve Young. Lola is survived by her brothers, Joe Kaus, Tom Kaus, & Alvin Kaus; children: Steve (Marilyn) Diederich, Sharon (Beatle) Koch, Dave (Cheri) Diederich, Ron (Dawn) Diederich, & Carol Young (Jim Howard); 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Lola's wishes were to be cremated and join the love of her life, Merlin, in their next life. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date. Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
