J.L. Seitz Is Laid To Rest

Funeral services for Julius Lafayette Seitz were held from the Mobeetie Methodist Church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with Rev. Vernon Willard, pastor, in charge.

Julius Lafette [sic] Seitz, a long time resident of the Mobeetie area, died at his home at Mobeetie last Friday afternoon at 5:00 o'clock. Mr. Seitz was a retired farmer and rancher.

Mr. Seitz was born at Hickory, North Carolina, October 12, 1864 and departed this life November 19, 1948 at the ripe old age of 84 years, 1 month and 7 days. He came to Texas with his parents at the age of 13 years. He professed religion and joined the Methodist Church in his youth.

Mr. Seitz was a Mason and the Mobeetie Chapter of Masons held full Masonic rites at the funeral.

In 1885, Mr. Seitz was married to Miss Fanny Long and to this union were born 2 children, Lillie Pearl and May. This wife lived but a few years and the children have preceded him in death.

Mr. Seitz was married to Miss Molly Walker on December 6, 1891 in Montague County, Texas and to this union were born 11 children, Hester, George and Albert all dying in infancy.

Survivors include the wife, Molly Seitz; these children, Mrs. Alice Moore of Mobeetie, Mrs. Clara Chisum of Miami, Lee Seitz of Eldorado, Okla., Ernest Seitz of Eldorado, Okla., Mrs. Bessie Galmor of Guymon, Okla., Mrs. Oma Ward of Mobeetie, Mrs. Jeffey Johnson of Canadian and Mrs. Floy Weaver of Los Angeles, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; three brothers, Pink Seitz of Miami, Jeff Seitz of Mobeetie and George Seitz of White Deer; one sister, Mrs. Ann Heath of Marlow, Okla., and a host of other relatives and friends.

Honorary flower bearers were: Mrs. Ed Johnston, Mrs. Jeff Brewer, Mrs. Boyd Beck, Mrs. Hugh Bailey, Mrs. Mollie Seitz and Mrs. Vernon Willard.

Interment was in the Mobeetie Cemetery with Kirk-Mason Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
