BURLINGTON - Mrs. Mary "Boots" Bishop, 85, of 417 East Old Glencoe Road, Burlington died at her residence on Thursday, May 28, 2009, at 5:55 a.m. following a brief illness.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Raymond L. Bishop and the daughter of Robert Lacy Graham and Viola Hall Miller, both deceased. She was a retired textile worker and a member of Staley Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include a half sister, Nellie Baise of Pelham; a stepmother, Stella Graham Lineberry of Pelham; two nieces, Cindy Taylor and husband Robert of Emerald Isle and Debbie Oakley and husband Bernie of Burlington; a great-niece, Jennifer VanSickle and husband Derek; three great-nephews, Tripp Oakley, Matt Oakley and Brett Taylor and wife Jennifer; and a special canine friend, Cody.

She was preceded in death by her sister and best friend, Norma Talbert.

A crypt-side service will be conducted at the Mausoleum at Alamance Memorial Park on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Bennie Smith.

The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Friday from 7 until 9 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence.

Memorials may be made to Staley Memorial Baptist Church, 1446 North Graham-Hopedale Road, Burlington, N.C. 27217.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Hospice, especially Tina and Laurie, as well as her caring neighbors.
