GRAHAM – Mr. Billy Roy Ezzell Sr., 78, of Graham, died at the Hospice Home in Burlington on Monday, January 4, 2010, at 12:40 a.m.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of 59 years to Jean Warren Ezzell, who survives, and the son of Ernest Ezzell and Bertha Ezzell, both deceased. Billy was retired after serving 45 years with Burlington Industries as the Director of Dyeing and Technical Services. A man of many interests and talents with a lifelong desire to expand his knowledge, he enjoyed music, art, woodworking, gardening, cooking, traveling, golf, beach walking and conversation.

In addition to his wife of their Graham home, survivors include two daughters, Debbie E. Anderson and husband Andy and granddaughters, Elizabeth and Victoria of Clayton, N.C.; Becky E. Cano and husband Calvin and granddaughter Jenny of Burlington; son, Billy R. Ezzell Jr. and wife Karen, of Durham, and grandson Billy R. Ezzell III and wife Aprel of Wake Forest, N.C.; a brother, Arnold Ezzell of Burlington; and also a special niece, Sandra Kerns.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ora Gore, Esther Nichols and Zelma Price; and four brothers, Lester, Artis and Zollie Ezzell and Jack Langston.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Wednesday, January 6, 2009, at 7:30 p.m. by the Rev. Steve Saunders, with the family receiving friends from 6 until 7 p.m. prior to the service.

At other times, the family will be at the residence.

Instead of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Foundation, Inc., CJD Foundation, P.O. Box 5312 Akron, Ohio 44334 (www.cjdfoundation.org) or in Billy's name to the Hospice Home, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice for their loving care and compassion shown to Mr. Ezzell and their family.
