BURLINGTON - Mr. Leerie Arnold Ezzell, 97, passed away Feb. 18, 2015, at Alamance Health Care Center in Burlington.

He was the son of the late Joseph and Dellar Gainey Ezzell and the husband of the late Hettie Smith Ezzell who passed away on March 8, 2009. They were married for 72 years. He was retired from Newman's Machine Shop in Greensboro.

Survivors include his daughter, Sandra Kerns (Charles "Wink") of Burlington; grandchildren, Todd Kerns of Whitsett, Chris Kerns of Graham, Randy Kerns (Happy) of Burlington, Kelli Jones (Todd) of Burlington; great– grandchildren, Molly, Emily, Connor, Craven, Chance, Lowden, Caroline Kerns, Hannah Kerns Dixon (Chris), Berkley, Andy and McGwire Jones; one great-great- granddaughter, Charlee Shoop.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ora Gore, Ester Nichols, Unis Ezzell and Zelma Price; brothers, Lester, Artis, and Zollie Ezzell; half brother, Billy R. Ezzell; stepbrother, Jack Langston; and a great-grandson, Yeates Jones.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, at noon in the McClure Funeral Chapel in Graham. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11 a.m. to noon at the funeral home. At other times they will be at the home of Sandra and Wink Kerns.

The family would like to thank the Teal Hall staff Alamance Health Care and Hospice for their care and compassion of our loved one.
