Mrs. Eula James Patridge, age 86, passed away at the borne of her daughter, Mrs. W. T. Jacks of near Winona on Monday, January 22, at 12:25 o'clock.
Mrs. Patridge was the daughter of the late Dr. W. A. D. James and Martha Lee Dunn James of the Alva Community, where she was born October 18, 1875. She spent her childhood inthis little village, attending school at Bellefontaine. In 1893 she was married to the late Jake James Patridge who preceded her in death 15 years. They built their home in the New Liberty Community where they lived until his death in November, 1945.
They were blessed with 12 children of which one son passed away in infancy, one son, Kern departed in January, 1946, one daughter, Jeffie Patridge Bridges in May, 1947, leaving six girls surviving: Mrs. T. J. Land and Mrs. W. T. Jacks of Winona, Mrs. Carroll Ingram and Mrs. C. E. McGaughy, Alva and New Liberty Communities, Mrs. P. E. Bolton, Mrs. Pauline Eula Jones of Memphis, Tennessee; three sons, Luther Patridge, Drew, Dewitt J. Patridge and J. E. "Bunk" Patridge of Winona, two sisters, Mrs. Knox Cooper, Long View, Texas, Mrs. Marie James Prince, Black Rock, Arkansas; one brother, Dr. Dewitt James, Midnight, 36 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great- grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at the New Liberty Church at four o'clock Tuesday afternoon, January 23. Bro. Cooper Hartley and Bro. W. M. Hull officiated. They were assisted by her grandson, Troy B. Land of Canton. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, A. L. "Pug" Land, Dewayne Bolton, Johnnie Gilliland, E. Dermon Ingram, Lloyd Brister and Clyde Tidmore.
She was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church. She was a faithful wife, a good mother, and true friend and neighbor. She was loved by both young and old and was always ready to lend a helping hand or a word of encouragement to anyone in need. Her friends are numbered by her acquaintances.
She was a believer in the Lord Jesus and never missed church services unless ill health prevented and was ever ready to do her bit to help spread the good news of the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ in whom she had placed her trust.
