Emilia Montez, age 96, of Fort Worth, Texas passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021.
Emilia Carrillo Montez was born to Agapito Carrillo and Herminia Rodriguez in Granger, Texas on April 5, 1925. Emilia was baptized Catholic and a firm believer in Jesus Christ our Lord. She was loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Emilia's younger years were spent growing up in Temple, Texas along with her parents and ten other siblings. After a fire destroyed their home in Temple, some of the family moved to Fort Worth in the early 40's. Emilia met her first husband, Frank Garcia Sr. in Fort Worth and were married for twenty years. During this time, Frank and Emilia raised four of their own children and three of Frank's children from a previous marriage. Besides being a homemaker, Emilia worked for several clothing and furniture manufacturing companies. Emilia married her beloved husband Elogio (Eloy) Montez in 1965 and they enjoyed fifty-three years of marriage together. They enjoyed traveling to California, Temple and Alice, Texas to visit relatives, going out dancing to Tejano music and visiting with friends and family. Eloy passed away on April 15, 2018 at the age of 94.
A visitation for Emilia will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Laurel Land FH - Ft Worth, 7100 CROWLEY RD, FORT WORTH, TX 76134. A funeral service will occur Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 10:00 AM , Laurel Land Funeral Home. The committal service will follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park, Fort Worth.
