HEADLAND, AL… William Thomas "Billy" Mayo, III., a resident of Headland, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at his home. He was 76.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 1, 2022, at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel with Chaplain Darryl Bates officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. prior to the service. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

The family request no flowers, but those memorial contributions be made to Encompass Health Hospice- Dothan, 3379 W. Main St. Suite 2, Dothan, Alabama 36305.

Mr. Mayo was born in Ft. Gaines, Georgia, to the late William Thomas Mayo Jr. and Nannie Lou Wolfe Mayo. He lived most of his lifetime in the Shorterville, Alabama area. He graduated from Abbeville High School. He served his country in the Alabama Army National Guard. He retired from the Henry County Road and Bridge Department as a heavy equipment mechanic and welder.

Along with his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Louette Mayo; and his sisters, Margie Mayo, Bobbie Starling, Mary Lou Sauls, and Jean Adair Simons.

Leaving to cherish his memories are his two daughters, two sons, one sister, and several nieces and nephews.
