Hope E McNiven was born on January 3, 1876, in Chicago, Illinois to James and Esther (Emerson) McNiven. He married Lucy Mae Miller (1880-1970) on December 17, 1903, in his hometown. They had two children during their marriage. He died in 1949 at the age of 73. He was manager of the Traffic Club of Chicago for 42 years.
