Surviving are his wife, the former Lillian Maybeth Adams; a daughter, Mrs. Sonya (Jerry) Roberts. Atlanta; a son, Maxie Jules Phillips, Atlanta; parents, Mr. and Mrs. William M. Phillips, Fitzgerald; three sisters, Mrs. Verna (George) Long and Mrs. Gladys (George) Kennedy, Fitzgerald; Mrs. Myrtice (Murray) Gay, Cordele, brother, Wade Saval Phillips, Florala, Ala., and uncle James Henry Cobia Sr, Savannah. Preceded in death by sister Mrs. Sula Ashurst
