Dr. John Lindley Barthelmess

A native of Savannah, GA and son of the late George Wesley and Hannah May Barthelmess, John graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 1955. That same year he married his high school sweetheart, Caroline Anderson, the daughter of Jack and Helen Anderson. He then attended the Medical College of Georgia, graduated in 1959, and did his internship at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. Upon completion, he served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps, stationed in Tainan, Taiwan. Following his service he completed his residency in OB/GYN at Talmadge Hospital in Augusta, GA and Macon Hospital in Macon, GA. In 1965 he moved his family to Tallahassee, FL where he practiced medicine for 29 years, from 1965 to 1994. He was an avid sportsman, had a passion for flying, and loved Alligator Point (his heaven on earth) like no other.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years Caroline Barthelmess of the home, his son John V. Barthelmess of Tallahassee, FL., his daughter and son-in-law Peggy and Jeff Robb of Dadeville, AL., his grandson Eric T. Robb of Lexington, KY., and his granddaughter Jamie L. Robb of Orlando, FL..
