BAUMBACH, REUBEN E.
Reuben E. Baumbach, 73, of Lodi, died unexpectedly June 29 at home. He was born on March 12 1927, in Lodi.
Mr. Baumbach, a Lodi native owned and operated Baumbach Oil Company for many years prior to retirement. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 22 of Lodi. He was a past member of Lodi Chamber of Commerce, Ebenezer Congregational Church and Lodi Dakota Club. He enjoyed farming, fishing and traveling.
He is survived by his son, Bill Baumbach of Galt; two daughters, Vicki McFarland of Morro Bay and Diane Gums of Elk Grove; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and his special companion, Bobbe Blair.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen A. Baumbach in 1998; and grandchild, Hanna Gums.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Gierhart-Wells & Donahue Funeral Home with Wayne Kildall of Ebenezer congregational Church officiating. Committal will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. to service time Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to National Scoliosis Foundation, Sacramento Valley Chapter, c/o Diane Gums, 9225 Laguna Lake Way, Elk Grove, CA 95758.
Gierhart-Wells & Donahue Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
