Pauline Lenora Bruno, 86, of Arnold, died of pneumonia due to complications of Alzheimer's disease Feb. 2 at the Severna Park Center, Genesis ElderCare Network.
Mrs. Bruno was born Aug. 21, 1919, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of the late Otho and Marian Barton and sister of the late Edward T. Barton. She graduated from McKinley High School in Washington and received a nursing degree from Westbrook Sanatorium in Richmond, Va.
She practiced psychiatric nursing until she married her childhood sweetheart, Joseph E. Bruno, in 1940. They were longtime residents of the Washington, D.C., and Prince George's County area prior to moving to New Smyrna Beach, Fla. in 1981. Following her husband's death in 1998, she lived with her daughter in Arnold.
She was known for her kind heart and ability to find a silver lining in every dark cloud, her family said.
Surviving are two sons, Anthony Bruno of Orlando, Fla., and Joseph E. Bruno Jr. of Austin, Texas; two daughters, Kathleen Kenney of Arnold and Gloria Bruno of Albuquerque, N.M.; seven grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association-Greater Maryland Chapter, 1850 York Road, Suite D, Timonium, MD 21093.
