She was born in Cherry Grove, Virginia, on October 28, 1927, to the late David L. and Minnie Bell Hollar Crider.
Helen is also preceded in death by her husband, George W. Dean Jr.; stepson, Ronnie Pence; sister Vivian Simmons; brother, Roy Hollar.
Left to cherish her memories are her two daughters, Catherine "Cathy" Kemp, Joanne Prieto; two step-sons, Eddie Pence, Richard Pence and wife, Juanita; sister, Wanda Stover; seven grandchildren, Phillip Taylor, Tasha Jackson, Bobby Noriega, Taffy Leaf, John Pence and wife, Lisa, Joanna Blackcaller and Anna Butts.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 31, 2021, at Rock Church, Harrisonburg, Virginia with Jeremy Poling officiating. The burial will follow service at Linville Creek Church of Brethren Cemetery, Broadway, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021, at the church.
