Effie Aseltine was born 8-3-1890 in Ingham Township. The second of five children of Dell and Lottie Every Aseltine.
After high school she attended County Normal in Mason to become a teacher.
"Miss Effie Aseltine closed a very successful term of school in the Hawley. She is engaged to teach the next 5 months beginning Jan.11." Ingham County News 12-31-1908.
She married Roy West 9-28-1909.
They first lived on Dexter Trail near another West family member. Then on a farm on Dakin Road near Dansville. In 1921 they moved a short distance away to their home on Clark Road. They spend the rest of their lives together on this farm. A portion of that land is still in the West family.
Together they had 2 children.

Mrs. Effie West of 1567 South Clark Road, Mason, died on Dec. 12. She was 80.
Mrs. West, a lifelong resident of the Dansville area, is survived by a brother Ralph Aseltine of Mason, a sister, Neva Holmes of Mason, her son Ronald West, also of Mason and her daughter, Mrs. Lorna Dunsmore of Lansing. Also surviving are five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Religious services were conducted by Rev. Robert Sawyer at the Jewett Funeral Home, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10.
Interment was in Howard Cemetery, Dansville.
Pallbearers were Ronald West, Donald West, Roy Dunsmore, William Dunsmore, James Stewart and Robert Hess.
