George A. Kidd, 89, of Springfield died at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at home.
George was born in Springfield on Nov. 3, 1918, the son of Robert A. and Flora A. Jones Kidd. He married Hilda C. Riecks in Springfield on Jan. 25, 1945.
Mr. Kidd was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He graduated from Springfield High School. George served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He worked for Schmidt Brother's Heating and Air Conditioning as a bookkeeper for 38 years, retiring in 1983.
Surviving are his wife, Hilda C. of Springfield; a daughter, Hilda R. Wiesenmeyer of Decatur; two grandchildren, Carrie (Stephen) Savage of San Jose, Calif., Scott (Amy) Wiesenmeyer of Portland, Ore.; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services: Bisch & Son Funeral Home, Pastor Paul Olsen officiating. Burial: Oak Ridge Cemetery.
