Annabelle L. Prettyman, 89, of rural Arcadia, died at 7:15 p.m., Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at Mercy Health Systems, in Fort Scott.
Mrs. Prettyman was born March 6, 1918, at Mulberry, Kan., the daughter of Woodson and Eliza Endicott Portwood. Annabelle was a homemaker who lived in Arcadia and Mulberry area most of her life. She was reared in Mulberry and attended Mulberry Schools. She married Fred W. Prettyman on March, 7, 1937, in Lamar, Mo. Mr. Prettyman preceded her in death June 15, 1990.

She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, in Garland, Kan., and the Eastern Star Topaz Lodge No. 325, in Garland.

Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Schulze and her husband Dave, of Nevada; two sons, Fred and Bob Prettyman, of Arcadia; caregivers Carolyn Clinesmith, of Lawson, Mo., and Beth Portwood, of Garland; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grand children, and several great-great-grandchildren. Annabell was preceded in death by her daughter Judy Cannon; a great-granddaughter, Bayley Spillman; four sisters, Elizabeth Portwood, Margaret Burke, Alta Jackson, Frances Gazaway; and four brothers, George, Herb, Maynard and Frank Portwood.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at Bedene Funeral Home, in Arma, Kan., with the Rev. David Peterson officiating. Burial will be at the Rosebank Cemetery, in Mulberry. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wedensday at the Bedene Chapel, in Arma. The family suggests memorials to the Mirza Shrine Transportation Fund. Donations may be sent to, or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, KS, 66712.
