Obituary

Meredith E Jencks 98 of Arnold Mills, Cumberland, RI and St. Pete Beach, Florida, a Registered Nurse for 38 years, until retiring in 1985, died on November 30, 2021, at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. She was the wife of the late Kenneth W Jencks for 72 years

Born in Slatersville, RI, she was the daughter of the late John Scott Manning and Grace O Cornforth Manning. She lived in Arnold Mills, Cumberland for more than 63 years. Mrs. Jencks was a graduate of the Homeopathic Hospital School of Nursing (now Roger Williams).

She was an Army Nurse in World War II and worked many years for Doctors Ralph Brown and Henry Auerbach of Attleboro, Mass as well as Harvard Community Health Plan of New England from which she retired.

She enjoyed music and was a fine violinist entertaining from the age of ten. She held membership in Roger Williams Hospital Alumnae Association, Cumberland Garden Club, and was a Past Matron of Woonsocket Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Beacon Pole Hill Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Ladies Auxiliary of Clearwater Florida Sons of the American Revolution.

Meredith a direct descendant of Roger Williams and was a member of Four Corners Community Chapel in Cumberland.

Her late husband Kenneth W Jencks and her daughter Judith Ann (Jencks) Ray of Fox Chapel, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania preceded her. She leaves a son Bradford Jencks of Honolulu, Hawaii, four grandsons, Gregory and Douglas Ray, and Bradford and Thomas Jencks, three great granddaughters and one great grandson.

A service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance will be held at a later date. Burial will be private at Slatersville Cemetery.
