Born April 21, 1937, in Sellersville, PA, she was a daughter of the late Melvin K. and Hettie Isabell (Knapp) Kratz. She attended Souderton High School and then worked for a period of time at the former Goldsmith Clothing Factory of Souderton, PA and waitressed at the former Barb & Bab's Restaurant in Harleysville, PA.
Because of her love of ceramics, she opened Doris's Ceramic Studio in her home in the 1960's. With her artistic talents and thoughtful patience, she developed and kindled many long-term friendships at her studio for over 45 years. She was also a Mary Kay consultant for 24 years. Doris was a life-long member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Souderton, PA. She loved music and was an accomplished accordionist. Though her hobbies were numerous and varied, she was happiest and most content when surrounded by her family. She truly cherished time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are three daughters, Gwen M. Hemmig and her husband, James, of Harleysville, PA, Vicki L. Neuman and her husband, Scott, of Green Lane, PA, and Jill L. Klaus and her husband, Thomas, of Harleysville, PA; a sister, Carolyn K. Kratz and her husband, Donald L., of Hatfield, PA; and a brother, Douglas J. Kratz and his wife, Connie, of Gilbertsville, PA. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Ashley Misir, Tori McClatchy, Taylor Neuman, Nathan Klaus and Karen Smith; and four great grandchildren, Alyssa, Peyton, Hazel and Charlotte.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by infant twin brothers, Ronald M. and Donald C. Kratz; and a sister, Emily L. Kratz.
Family will receive friends for her viewing from 6-8pm on Tuesday evening, December 21, 2021, at Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, Inc., 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford (Franconia Twp.), PA, and again on Wednesday from 10-10:45am at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 69 W. Broad St., Souderton, PA 18964. The public funeral service will then take place at 11am at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with burial following at Indian Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Harleysville, PA.
