Peggy Lou Dunlap, 91, Wichita, formerly of Abbyville, passed away Friday, December 17, 2021, at Brookdale East, Wichita. She was born November 29, 1930, in Topeka, KS, to Clifford William and Ernestine Elizabeth (Cummings) Birket.
She was a 1948 graduate of Abbyville High School and attended Hutchinson Junior College and the University of Arizona.
On August 20, 1954, she married Richard Lee Dunlap in Abbyville. Her husband Richard of over 61 years of marriage passed away April 21, 2016.
Peggy and Richard raised their family in Southern California. She was a homemaker and in later years worked as an administrative assistant at Hartwell/Hasco in California. After retiring, they moved back to Kansas and built their retirement home near Abbyville.
Peggy was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She enjoyed painting with oils and acrylics and gave numerous paintings to family and friends. She also enjoyed motorhome traveling, sewing, and watching college basketball. She was an avid KU basketball fan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant grandson, Ryan, and siblings, Betty Dunn and Clifford 'Bud' Birket.
Survivors include her children, Scott and wife Robyn of Wichita, and April Connelly of Blue Springs, MO; Step grandchildren, Rochelle (Zack) Helgesen and Riley (Aaron) Babbidge; Step great-grandchildren, Brenna, Thor and Keira Helgesen, and Augie and Reagan Babbidge; brother-in-law, Kenneth Dunn of Abbyville; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Abbyville Cemetery with Reverend Christy E. Dew presiding.
