Floyd was the youngest son of Randolph Mills and Essie Porter Jordan. He was a football star in Fordyce, and on March 9, 1940, married his cheerleader girlfriend of many years, Frances Madge Russell, in Fordyce.
They then moved to Camden, where he had $50.00 to put in a business, and he purchased a Gulf Service station. He later purchased a Pontiac dealership, along with his brothers Clark "Click" and George "Jud", which is still in the family to this day. Floyd and Frances had 6 boys:

Floyd Fenton Jr. "Buddy", John Russell "Johnny", Jerry Randolph, Jack Henry, William Thomas "Bill", and David Hall Jordan.

In 1958, Floyd built a two-story house near the Ouachita River for Frances and all the boys. The boys all lived upstairs. He also bought a cabin at Mustin lake, where many good times were had by the large family and friends.
