MACOMB - Adron W. McMahon, age 78, of 936 S. Garfield, Macomb, Ill., died at 7:14 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
He was born on Feb. 6, 1929, in Chicago, Ill., the son of James and Lottie Manis McMahon. He married Donna Thomas on Jan. 14, 1950, in Waverly, Ill.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; four sons, Daniel (Patricia) McMahon of Orland Park, Ill., Robert (Sue) McMahon of Bedford, Texas, William (Mary) McMahon of San Diego, Calif., and James (Heidi) McMahon of Sterling, Ill.; one daughter, Beverly Adams of Gilbert, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and two brothers, Robert (Carol) McMahon of Elburn, Ill., and Patrick McMahon of Jayess, Miss.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two brothers and one son in infancy.
Adron moved to Macomb in 1964. He had worked as a Claims Adjuster for General Casualty Insurance Company for many years before his retirement in 1994.
He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Macomb.
Adron was well known in the area for his involvement with youth activities. He coached American Legion Baseball for 19 years, he was a referee for high school football and basketball for more than 35 years, he served on the Macomb-Western Holiday Tournament committee for many years and had been the chairman of the tournament committee for the last 20 years. Adron had received many honors for his work with area youth and was elected to the Illinois Coaches Basketball Association Hall of Fame in 2006.
He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, fellow coaches, referees and players.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in Macomb. The Rev. Wally Holt will officiate. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb. The family will meet with friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church or to the Macomb High School Athletics Dept.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, at First Baptist Church in Macomb with the Rev. Wally Holt officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb.

Memorials may be made to either First Baptist Church or Macomb High School Athletic Department.
