Jerry married Ruth Grunow Kasten on November 27, 1959 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Evansville, Indiana. They had one son, Jon Mark Kasten of Cape Girardeau, MO.
He was a life time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on many committees during his lifetime. Jerry's interests include traveling, restoring old tractors, cars, Boy Scouts, and Civil War. He was a member of Egypt Mills Antique Tractor Club and many Civil War organizations in St. Louis, Cape Girardeau, and Ste. Genevieve County. Jerry was proud of the 3 inch ordinance cannon and limber he made and fired on many Civil War events. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Men's 50 year club. He spent many hours doing re enactments and promoting Fort D in Cape Girardeau.
Before retirement in 1996, he was employed at L.A. Tucker Truck Line, Jerry Lipps, and Elfrink.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eugene Kasten of Belleville, IL; sisters, Ann Kasten Hickam of Cape Girardeau, and Evelyn Kasten Blair of St. Louis, MO.
Survivors include his wife, son, nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins.
Due to COVID, a private funeral will be held on at a later date.
