Obituary

Bette Jean "Grandbette" Cohen, age 94, passed from this life on Monday, December 13, 2021 in Plano, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, December 16 at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 S in Abilene with Dr. Marc Orner officiating.

She was born on April 28, 1927 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Abe and Anna Janger. Bette Jean and her husband, Abe, were founding and lifelong members of Abilene's Temple Mizpah. She served as an officer and in various other capacities at the Temple and served as President and Ball Chairman of the Abilene Philharmonic Guild prior to moving to Plano to be with her children and grandchildren in 2012. Bette Jean was active in Hadassah and the Texas Jewish Historical Society, an avid Mah Jongg and Bingo player and, first and always, a devoted fan of the Oklahoma Sooners.
She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to many and, as "Grandbette", a doting grandmother and great grandmother. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren and, for the last year, her great, granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 plus years, Abe Cohen; her parents, Abe and Anna Janger; brothers, Harry and Sam Janger and sisters, Ida Nelbert and Rose Lubin.

Bette Jean is survived by her daughters, Barbara Brown, and husband Barry and Judy Vice, and husband Preston of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Jacob Brown of Los Angeles, California, Annie Crockett, and husband Brett of Dallas, Texas and Brittany Vice and fiancé Sean Razloznik of Southlake, Texas; great granddaughter, Lucy Robin Crockett of Dallas, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

In accordance with the custom of faith, in lieu of flowers the family requests memorial gifts be made to Temple Mizpah, P.O. Box 1283, Abilene, TX 79604, Hadassah(www,Hadassah.org) or to the charity of your choice. Condolences for the family may be left at www.northsfuneralhome.com .
