Effie J. Britcher Singer, 87, of 41 S. Poplar St., Elizabethtown, died early Sunday morning at St. Joseph Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Howard Singer. Mrs. Singer resided in northwestern Lancaster County most of her life. Before retiring in 1965 she was employed as a seamstress for 20 years at Donegal Industries Inc., Mount Joy R1. She was a lifelong member of Reich's Evangelical Congregational Church, Marietta R1. She was a member of the Elizabethtown Women of the Moose, Chapter 701, and the Maytown American Legion Auxiliary. Born in Perry County, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Catherine Britcher. She is survived by two sons, Harry A. Charles, Elizabethtown, and Thomas D. McCoy, Elizabethtown R1; a daughter, Mildred E., wife of Franklin C. Noll, Maytown; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. (Lancaster New Era - Aug 15, 1988)
