He married Sharon (nee Jashinsky) on February 15, 1964 in Waukegan, Illinois, they had 4 children.
Jerry's logging career began at the young age of 16 with Walter Leisner. He started his business in 1967 that turned into a family operation with his sons. He enjoyed working in the woods and was able to do just that until his last day.
He was an avid hunter, hunting here and abroad. He made trips to Canada for over 40 years moose hunting and fishing. No wild life was safe when Jerry was around. He lived for family, hunting and working.
Preceded in death by his parents Emil and Olga Kopatz, an infant sister Arlette, father and mother-in-law Oscar and Emma Jashinsky as well as many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who also greeted him when he greeted Jesus.
Survivors include his wife Sharon of 57 years;
children: Troy, Sheri (Dave) Konop, Jill (Todd) Volkers and Ryan;
Grandchildren: Hunter, Grant, Myah, Gwen, Mason, Cole and Kiley;
a brother Marvin (Pat) Kopatz;
and a sister Arlene ( (Mrs. Leonard Shevy ) Shevy;
and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jerry will be missed by many for all the laughs, jokes, and sincere friendships. He was a great husband, dad and grandpa.
The family will greet relatives and friends Friday, December 17, 2021 at Hillside Assembly of God Church, Gillett, WI from 10 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 2 PM with Pastor Paul Carlson officiating. Gerald will be placed to rest at First Baptist Cemetery, Pound.
