Shirley M. Bearden, age 83, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2018 with her family and loving caretakers at her side at Reflections of Carterville, IL.
Shirley was born on June 26, 1935 in Marion, IL to Herman and Lora (Sanson) Bearden. She had one brother, Jack Bearden.
Shirley was a retired grade school teacher having taught in Marion Unit 2 School System.
After graduating from Marion High School she attended Southern Illinois University where she earned her Bachelor Degree in Education.
During her retirement she did volunteer work on the Meals on Wheels program and the Marion Animal Shelter for several years. She loved traveling and visited many foreign countries. She especially loved and enjoyed her German style home that her dad built for her on the Lake of Egypt, where she lived for over forty years.
With her passing she leaves behind nieces and nephews, as well as, a few cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother.
Arrangements for Shirley Bearden have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home of Marion, IL.
At Shirley's request she will be cremated with a memorial service to be held at a later date.
