"CARBONDALE -- Helen L. Baltzell, 88, of Sumner died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, in Lawrence Community Health Care.
She was born Aug. 4, 1912, in Crawford County, the daughter of Thomas H. and Emma (Stewart) Bailey.
A homemaker, she was a member of Chauncey First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Ann Bass of Carbondale, Patsy Lou Hardacre of Bridgeport and Janice Litts of Lakeland, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She married Mervin O. "Tod" Baltzell at Chauncey First United Methodist Church. He is deceased, as are a daughter and sister.
Graveside service were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, in Chauncey Cemetery, with the Rev. Oran Mulvaney officiating. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cunningham Funeral Home.
